In Remembrance: Batman

Our door once stated:
Batman Welcomes You To The Friendly Mushroom
And each time we or our friends entered his mask would greet us there, ominously reminding us to be as awesome and mysterious as he was.

This is immediately what came to mind as I saw a news article focused on the following.  They are stamps that commemorate the 75th anniversary of Batman.  It seemed only appropriate to record here this momentous occasion and recall our once constant door guardian.

If ever we feel the urge, the use of these stamps could also serve to remind each other of our wild and crazy times when Batman watched our door.

The Tale of the Savage Damsel and the Sea Otter

Alrighty, so it's a few months now after the fact, but the story needs to told as well I believe. Here are our Title characters:

The Savage Damsel (aka BonBon)             And her Sea Otter (aka Ry Guy)

One day, many moons ago, the Savage Damsel and her roomies purchased a night of festivities with the Sea Otter and his fellows. Eventually, an evening of mirth, forts, books, and pizza ensued and the two apartments became one ridiculous mob of awesome friendship. In time the Sea Otter and the Savage Damsel realized that they simply enjoyed the same shows and coordinating costumes so much together that they should date. So they did.
Vegas!, Shli, Panda, Moonshine, Sea Otter, and BonBon
Then the slow dawn of another realization hit them both on the head and they fell in love over Thai food. And so, in remembrance of their many adventures together and the most brilliant game of riddles ever played, the Sea Otter and the Savage Damsel were betrothed. After many much feasten of curry and banquets in honor of their impending University graduations, the day of their wedding was fast upon them.

Woot, woot! Two majors down! Oh, look at the cute Humanities-Science couple

As proper roomies, Mellie, Manda, and Panda did all they could to prepare and destressify the savage bride-to-be. These excursions were as effective, manifold, and sadjuistic as ever:
What happens whenever we enter a store
And lo, the day of the Wedding came. And it was indeed a most glorious day! Even the rain itself paused for the beauty and pure joy of the entire wedding party as the gathered to commemorate the temple ceremony.

Bu this celebration was indeed not to duplicated. It was the Wedding of Allusions. With a built-in can you-spot-the-reference game! Pineapples, legos, bowling balls, mustaches, and books abounded! The background support system of dearest friends and family was overwhelming for the Savage bride to behold. Truly, she thought as she held the held hand of her beloved Sea Otter, I am surrounded by my guardian angels.
Panda, Manda, BonBon, Mellie, and Mary!
And so ends the happy tale of the Savage Damsel and her Sea Otter (and their best friends)
The Savage Damsel and the Sea Otter

BonBon loves Jane Austen. So of course, this runs through her mind:

"The wishes, the faith, and the predictions, of the small band of true friends, was fully answered in the perfect happiness of the union."
"The wishes, the faith and the predictions of the small band of true friends who witnessed the ceremony were fully answered in the perfect happiness of the union." Emma.

All for Mary's Wedding!

A story needed to be told here years ago, so since I'm late, I'll make it a short one. One sentence per photo. Plus one to start: I was my Mary's bridesmaid, and I went to Oregon!

This story begins with pre-wedding preparations, which included BonBon seeing and hugging her first Redwood tree (Bucket list item fulfilled).

Next we take a little detour to celebrate Mary's beautiful self and the brilliance of props among friends.

Naturally all bridesmaids needed to join the festivities, even those who were MIA (aka, cardboard sister Sarah on her mission down under!)

Ah, the main event: Mary and Michael moments after being sealed for eternity; what a blessing to see how their mutual happiness glowed!

And the bridal party: all brothers and sisters plus the five of us who drove 13 hours to get there :)

The beauty of Oregon: Utah and Nevada please take notes, especially you, Nevada.

But before the happy couple could depart, the bridal party did deck out their "cart" (oh, the look on Michael's face when he saw the oreos under the saran wrap)

Gifts all around! The bridal party was Ready to Run

On the way home, we visited Crater lake!
And Oregon said goodbye "Parting is such sweet sorrow...."
Here's to an amazing couple, and one of the best roommates I used to have!

What's in a Name??

Not too long ago, the Mellie and I took part in a most fulfilling form of time-wasting procrastination by going through every Name Generator and Situation Randomizer as we could find in one night. Granted, Mellie was actually, sort of, in a way, with small devotion, attempting to write an essay for her class. So, it could be said that not too long ago, I took part in a most fulfilling form of time-wasting, pro-procrastination and managed to distract my target most efficiently by bringing up EVERY NAME GENERATOR AND SITUATION RANDOMIZER I could possibly find and asking her for all her personal information (middle name, zodiac signs, birthday, phone-number digits, social security, just basic stalker info).

And we came across one of the most Beautiful Treasures to be known. A Dragon Name Generator. :3

Needless to say, we went through and did just about everybody:

Aquphen Green-Shroud, The Explosive (Mellie):
She cracks the very earth asunder with bolts of lightning! She has scales as green as forest emeralds. She brings death without mercy. This one shrouds the land in darkness, dominating all.

Kzanem Crimson-Smasher, The Repugnant (Meeee):
She is the bane of all life! She has scales that glow as hot as flames. She brings death without mercy. This one shrouds the land in darkness, dominating all.

Klalan Sour-Howler, The Coal Dark (Bon):
She lays waste to green and fertile lands! She is a yellow green dragon with pearlescent scales that catch the light. She howls like a banshee when breathing fire. This one could scorch the very sun.

Kzaqua Crimson-Smasher, The Explosive (Manda):
She roars a deafening sonic roar with the voice of a thunderstorm! She has scales as crimson as glowing embers. She smashes things that get in the way with powerful claws. This one has strength.

Hazadia Dream-Lizard, The Burning (Shli):
She scorches the roof of the world! She has scales that shimmer with the colours of the rainbow. She is a ponderous, slow dragon. Given a choice, this one prefers to sit atop a hoard.

Haaqo Silver-Hiss, The Coal Dark (Sea Otter):
He rains brimstone down on enemies in judgement! He has scales as silver as the lonely moon. He hisses like a cat and prefers small prey. This one is independent and aloof.

Aquron Orange-Blaster, The Diamond Hoarder (Vegas):
He is desirous of precious jewels and shiny things! He has scales as orange as molten lava. He blasts apart houses and castles as if they were made of matchsticks. This one has powerful lungs!

Hurtos Silver-Hiss, The Smoky (Moonshine):
He wreathes the land in a suffocating fog! He has Scales as silver as the lonely moon. He hisses like a cat and prefers small prey. This one is independent and aloof.

...also Unicorn Name Generator. Unicorns guys. Unicorns.

Admit it. You're jealous right now. You are. Say it. Say it. Say it. SAY IT. :K
And we didn't stop there, we went on with MANY other Generators. Here are some of the ones we enjoyed the most:

And then there's this beauty from before Shli left us:

Also, Percy Jackson life Predictor:

I could go on and blog many, many more of these because we went through probably nearly every single one that exists on this internet (literally, we were doing them for nearly 4 hours, no joke), but that would clutter this beautiful, perfect post about a most wonderful event of procrastination, and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

If ever you have no life or simply want to escape the one you're in, I highly recommend this most efficient and most entertaining time-wasting activity.

A Manda & Mellie Adventure

Once upon a time...

Mellie and Manda found themselves alone in the apartment shortly after it had snowed. Manda had just woken up from her nap, and Mellie and Panda wanted to watch a movie later. With 15 minutes until the Provo library closed, they decided to go on an adventure. Bundling up with boots, coats, scarves, and gloves within a minute they ran/slid to Mellie's car.

The first problem they encountered was the ice covering the car. It took longer than they would have liked to scrape it away and they missed their Shli, who was a pro at scraping cars. When their task was finished, they raced off to the Provo Library. The lights were with them, but when they ran to the doors with five minutes to spare, they found them locked. Someone came out of the library and they slipped in. Manda, who has a lot of experience with getting her way, charmed the front desk attendant to let them into the library for the last three minutes it was open, and victory was so close they could almost taste it.

Unfortunately, this story does not have a happy end. Mellie could not find her movie and Manda could not find the book she wanted. With heads hung in dejection, they exited the library and went home. Still, the outcome is not always as important as the adventure itself.

The End.

We may stop, though life will not.

Two months. That is the length of time we've gone WITHOUT so much as a word on this blog. But we've been about...

Sharing joy in Halloween dances and Parties....

Whilst terrorizing others...

And simultaneously planning a last minute piece of gorgeous musicality for the wondrous Christmas Program this coming Sabbath day within ONE WEEK. O________O

And let's not forget the happy occasion of Hobbit midnight premier! :D Even though the movie was a bit of a disappointment, our joy and fun refused to be defused! ^_^

So the last few months were still quite enjoyable.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day

Argh, ye scalawags!  We be the pirates of the Friendly Mushroom, out searching for buried treasure in our boat-SHIP!, ship.  It's a black ship.  Good fer treasure hunting, ya better be sure.  We charged into battle, following our fearless captain. The Pirate Queen Bon-Bon led us to the winnen' of the fight, with her sharp sword and even sharper wit.  The beauty Manda, our gypsy-like pirate, brought along Shem the camel, who tried to keep us in line but was certain to bring smiles to our faces.  Our creature keeper, Panda, kept a vicious snake under control (barely) while waltzing among the natives.  And I, Mellie, was in-session photographer, recording the crazy thoughts of some random pirate-wannabes meandering through the city, terrorizing some and entertaining others. ---Okay, actually I was a pirate, too, always on the lookout for enemies and other pirates.  Five pirates are always better than four, so we sorely missed each member of the Friendly Mushroom crew that we lacked.  And though free donuts were not our booty, the memories more than make up for it.  (Don't mistake us, pirates love treasure, so if you wish to please the pirates, you know what to do!)
May All Your Adventures End This Happily!
